Etched Atlas started with a wedding gift for a close friend. A few birthday, wedding and Christmas gifts later we had the beginning of our company.
We love maps! They are beautiful, fun, and infinitely varied. Maps represent both the natural world and our experiences, which is why they make for artwork that is both gorgeous and meaningful.Shop Maps
All of our artwork is designed in-house. We use a variety of reference maps and open source data (shout out to Open Street Map!) to create unique designs you won’t find anywhere else. All of our pieces are engraved in our workshop using an Epilog laser.
Behind the scenes, we revel in developing products and processes that are efficient, effective and sustainable. That’s why we source our frames from the environmentally conscious company Picture Woods, Ltd, and why we spent more time than we’d like to admit searching for boxes that would allow us to ship our products with the least amount of packaging.
We are a wife and husband team happily living in Maplewood, New Jersey. Julie handles the design work and customer service while Matthew runs our workshop. Our dog Arthur is the social chair and is in charge of morale. He does an excellent job and probably deserves a raise.
